2012: a question

Now, I have to admit I have not read the Maya prophecy or Nostrodamus' prophecy stating a catastrophic December 2012. The Japan earthquake that hit yesterday does suggest something of a prelude. So I am going to read the above two prophecies and analysis writings about them to determine probable or impossible outcome of such an event. Perhaps you would like to join in the discussion with me to make a determination, as per peace of mind on the issue.
